Could, possibly, try to make something out of Rumsfeld's piece in the Journal this morning -- advice about how government ought to communicate. Won't. Others certainly have. Am trying to focus more at the level of lived life. Concerning that -- came out of a hellacious Bikram Yoga class on 72nd Street (part of the reason I like Bikram is that it lets you use the words "hellacious" and "yoga" in the same sentence -- credit to Abby in this case), into the middle of a bomb threat. Big security cordon at the 72nd Street IRT station (yes, I'm dating myself -- the 1, 2, 3 and 9 station, for you younglings), fire, police and EMS presence, the Bomb Squad on the way. The result? A chance to meet neighbors -- quick conversations among people mostly eager to get home. A longer walk back, via Columbus Avenue, since Broadway was closed. Bad traffic on the way to Lincoln Center. It cleared a few minutes later. And so we continue.
